LG company had just announced LG G8X ThinQ is coming soon. What are the key selling points of this new LG phone? Are the Dual Screen design or price? Check the reviews and specs below, you can find the big reason why you will choose this phone, though the G8x is expected to ship before the end of 2019.
First, the LG G8X ThinQ is a well-made flagship phone, a dual screen smartphone with a removable display. The attachable Dual Screen case is thinner and lighter, It’s now the same size as the phone’s primary 6.4-inch FHD+ display so they look like a more natural pair.
Dual Screen support aside, this new display comes with a fingerprint reader embedded, but the secondary screen is the big draw. It looks and feels premium, and it sits relatively well in the hand.
This LG G8X ThinQ has a 6.4 inches (162.56mm) device with a Full HD+ 1080 x 2340 screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. But, regrettably , the resolution display is lower than the G8 and V50 (both QHD). The good news is the display is still bright and vibrant, making for an easy-on-the-eye experience, and we didn’t notice any quality issues with it.
At the core configuration, the G8X ThinQ phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The storage is not enough? you can also extend by up to 1 TB more with a microSD card.
Next up is the G8X runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, and runs LG’s brand new UX 9.0 interface which is lighter, brighter and generally more accessible than the company’s previous interface.
The LG G8X ThinQ other features include accelerometer, proximity, Fingerprint (under display, optical), compass and gyro. Notable features include that the ThinQ also offers durability, as the phone is IP68 rated (water and dust resistant) and MIL-SPEC tested. Along with a headphone jack – a feature that’s disappearing in far too many devices.
Does LG G8X ThinQ has a good camera?
Dual Screen support aside, the second big reason to buy the LG G8x ThinQ we think is the camera. The phone comes with a 32MP front-facing camera (default it’ll capture images at 8MP) which should be able to produce Instagram-worthy snaps. When paired with the two screens, helped me take some quality selfies. The room I was in was fairly dark so I used Reflector mode which allowed me to adjust the lighting for a better outcome.
It also staying with its dual-camera setup, a 12MP standard and 13MP ultra-wide. A variety of additional features have been packed into the camera though, to keep budding photographers interested.
Size and Battery
As for body size, the G8x ThinQ measures 6.27 x 2.98 x (159.3 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm) and 6.77 oz (192 g). With the cover attached, the Dual Screen weighs 11.5 ounces and 6.5 x 3.3 x 0.6 inches. It’s definitely substantial, but not so much I wouldn’t lug it around in my pocket.
Finally, We think the big question of this device is battery life. The LG G8X ThinQ has a Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery, it also support for fast battery charging 21W (Quick Charge 4.0) and Wireless charging 9W. Which is a bit on the small side considering its working for two. Although LG claims the Cover Display only consumes 20% to 30% more charge when it’s enabled, that still means faster battery drain.
Sim card size of the G8X is Nano SIM (4FF – fourth form factor, since 2012, 12.30 x 8.80 x 0.67 mm).
